Goes on thick but evaporates, not suitable for filling the slightest imperfection.

Dry's hard, easy to sand. No vapors, spouse approved. First coat is a bit translucent but the second heavy coat covers clear resin on light colored wood. Figured I'd try to skip fairing and apply this directly to fiberglass. After ten coats I could still see the weave in 8oz fabric. Curious to see how many coats would it would take to fill the dimples I created a dam and poured in about 1/8". Ten hours later and almost dry it appears most of the product evaporated and still shows the weave. I like the product overall just not suitable as a filler.

fine finish for boat interiors with one caveat....

I am now on my second bag of Elixir white and am still learning about its' characteristics, but am quite impressed with the quality of the surface when rolled on with sponge roller. I took care to prep and wipe down all areas. But I have been going over older paints such as a light beige and a middle tan . Despite serious attention to mixing, this paint is translucent and is best applied over a white primer coat Not just a quick coat of itself. There simply is not enough Titanium white(or other white pigment) in this paint to guarantee full opacity. The pigment is also dramatically "cool" in cast which is to say in this case it is actually pale blue not for instance "Orca" white. In comparison to existing whites on the boat it is dramatically in the blue range. I often do adjustments to paints which range too far to cool or warm but this is dramatic and unusual. I am still impressed with the paint but think if you plan to use it, be aware of its eccentricities.

Easy to apply but not durable

Easy to apply. Very similar to rustoleum topside paints found at my local Lowe’s. Although rustoleum might be more durable. I had to cover this paint with 2K clear for it not to scrape off with a firm scratch of a fingernail. To be expected with one part water based. You’d need to clear coat it for any meaningful boat application.

Hard, semi-gloass surface

This produces a semi-gloss surface that is hard and free of brush strokes when used as directed. It cures very fast, faster than any paint I have ever used. I would not use the paint to coat a surface that a person might walk on. The white color produces a soft white finish.

Excellent Stuff

This is superb paint, I just painted the side of a 42 year old Searay, lightly sanded and applied this, roller or brush it just smooths into a lovely finish. I was amazed at how little I used too. It was excellent.
